Paper Medallions {tutorial}

Hello all! I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! Maddy and I had colds the first part of the week so we've spent the last couple days trying to recover. Today I'm sharing with you a tutorial for an easy and inexpensive party decoration. I used these for Claire's Fashion show Party last month. These medallions are so cute and can be made to match any party theme using scrapbook paper.

You will need:
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Scissors or paper cutter
  • Hot glue gun or other adhesive
  • Ruler

I made a variety of different colors and patterns using 12"x 12" scrapbook paper.

Using my paper cutter I cut each piece of paper into fours making four 6" x 6" squares.

Then I folded each square accordion style. The folds were each 1" thick.

So your paper will look like this.

Then fold it in half and glue the two center edges together.

So it will look like this. Do the same to the next square and then attach it to the first one using hot glue.

Continue the same way with all four squares, attaching them to each other.

So in the end it will look like this.

To finish them I cut a piece of coordinating scrapbook paper out with my 2" scallop circle punch and glued it to the center of each one. I also attached some doilies to the backs of a few of them with hot glue.

These look great grouped together on a wall, added to the end of a banner, displayed on a food table or even hanging from the ceiling. The possibilities are endless!! And the best part...they cost less than a dollar a piece!
