owl baby shower: look whooo's adding to their nest

I mentioned I was busy last week planning a baby shower so here I am today to show you! My sweet friend Katie is expecting a little boy so I, along with a few of our friends, put together this owl themed baby shower. Melissa (best sister-in-law ever and co-brain of this operation) and I got to work right away thinking of fun things we could do to make it a special day for her. We had a great group of family and friends over to celebrate.

I got the branch from the yard (where else do branches come from, right?) It actually wasn't my yard. I noticed my neighbors had just trimmed their trees and put a ton of really great branches by the street to be picked up so I snatched one before they could be taken to wherever it is yard debris gets taken. I made the little owl on the branch to go with Katies' nursery and made the tissue paper pom poms hanging above it.

Mathew's parents worked together to make this adorable cupcake tower, perfect for our rustic owl theme! Mathew's mom was helping us with the party and since his dad does woodworking he usually gets roped into making something for us every now and then. If you are not up for making it yourself I found this tree slice cupcake tower on Amazon. So cute!  Melissa made these amazing chocolate cupcakes with nutella frosting. I  had a few more than I should have but they were worth it!

Matching tree slice platter...food was already gone before I could snap a picture. Matt's dad made this one also but I found a similar round tree slice cake stand online also.

The food label printables can be found here.

I'm totally in love with paper straws these days! Aren't they adorable? Interested in getting some for your next soirĂ©e? You can get them here.

I made 2 of these wreaths using a 13" twig wreath and pieces of an evergreen tree from my back yard. The 5x7 printable can be found here.

All the guests wrote a little note for Katie on a diaper.

These will be sure to put a smile on her face during those late night diaper changes! :)

Love this! I plan to use these ideas for a shower for my sister-in-law. The free printables were especially helpful. I did have a couple of questions. Was the "Mason" banner a printable? Also, how is the branch suspended/attached at its location on the white sheet??

Thanks so much! The Mason banner I made using scrapbook paper and stickers. I think I got everything for that at Hobby Lobby. The sheet backdrop is actually canvas drop cloth. I used flat thumb tacks to attach it to the wall first. The branch is held to the wall using little cup hooks. I held the branch to the wall first to determine where to put the cup hooks and then cut little slits in the drop cloth and screwed the hooks into the wall through the slits. I used three cup hooks total. The shape of your branch will determine where you put them. Hope that helps!! Good luck with your shower!
